Related People Stevens, Elizabeth
Notes There are gaps in Elizabeth Stevens' career that require further research; she took over the business for her husband Robert Baldwin at his death in 1748 (BBTI, Elizabeth Baldwin entry), and then married Paul Stevens in 1750. The BBTI record for Elizabeth Stevens (linked) states she succeeded Paul Stevens, and operated from 1768-1776, but unsure why it is suggested she was not operating between 1750 and 1768 given that she had her own business after Baldwin's death. In 1776 she was succeeded by her niece, Ann Jeffries (Maxted, under the Victor Berch newspaper extracts entry for Elizabeth Stevens). Her location may have changed from Ludgate Street to Bible & Crown at Stationers' Hall after she succeeded Stevens.
