Notes From AAS: Except for changes in the title page and the omission of twelve pages of text, the almanac is an offprint from Cochran's Pennsylvania almanac for 1813, printed at Philadelphia by Ann Cochran, and calculated by Joshua Sharp.
Stewart also published Stewart's Washington almanac for 1813, "by Abraham Shoemaker," and Stewart's East and West Jersey almanac for 1813 "by Joshua Sharp." These two 1813 almanacs contain the same offprint calendar pages and other astronomical matter as Stewart's Columbian.
Cochran's Pennsylvania almanac, and thus the three 1813 Stewart almanacs offprinted from it, are in fact by Joshua Sharp. The calculations and astronomical notes (with a few notes omitted) on the calendar pages, together with the eclipse predictions, duplicate those in Sharp's several other almanacs published in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for 1813. The false attributions to the additional well-known calculators Shoemaker and Beers were intended to widen sales.
