CECILIA SHEDDEN, of the said district, deposited in this office the Title of a book the rights whereof she claims as Authoress, in the words following, to wit: An Abridgement with improvements of the Logographic, Emblematic French Spelling Book, or French pronunciaiton made easy, being a method by which any child, four or five years of age, and of even a slow apprehension, although perfectly unacquainted with the Alphabet, will in a few months be enabled to read French fluently and with the greatest accuracy of pronuncation." In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, entitled "An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such copies, during the times therein metnioned;" and also to an act entitled, "An act supplementary to the act, entitled, an act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the Authors and Proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned, and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, etching, and engraving historical and other prints."
