Be it remembered, that on the twenty-eighth day of January, A.D. 1817, in the forty-first year of the Independence of the United States of America, James Tucker of the said district, has deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as proprietor in the words following, to wit: "Memoirs, or Spiritual Exercises of Elisabeth West; written by her own hand." Psalm xxxi. 7. I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; Ver. 8. And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room. Ver. 19. O! how great is thy goodness which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men. In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, entitled, "An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned:" and also to an Act, entitled, "An Act supplementary to an Act, entitled, An Act for the encouragement of learning, bu securing the copies of Maps, Charts and Books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned; and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of Designing, ENgraving and Etching Historical and other prints."
