Copyright Statement District of Maine.—To Wit: Be It Remembered, that L.S. on the second day of July, A.D. 1819, and in the forty-third year of the independence of the United States of America, David Starret, of said District, has deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof he claims as Proprietor, in the words following;—to wit: "Life and Writings of Miss Eliza Waite, who died at Freeport, Me. Jan. 13, 1819, in the 20th year of her age. To which is subjoined a Letter written by Mr. James Young, of Edinburgh, to his Wife, in the year 1697." In conformity to the act of the Congress of the U. States, entitled "An act for the encouragement of learning by securing the copies of maps, charts and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies, during the times therein mentioned," and also to an act, entitled, "An act supplementary to an act, entitled an act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, chartes and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned, and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving and etching historical and other prints."
