From AAS: "The following pages are chiefly the production of two young females, whose duty to an aged and infirm parent, induced them assign to the trifling profits arising therefrom to her assistance and precarious support."--Preface, p. [5]. Poems variously signed, "Mary," (i.e., Mary Belson Elliott) and "Eliza" (i.e., Elizabeth Belson). Also includes poetry by other authors including Isaac Watts.
Samuel Wood & Sons was located at 261 Pearl St., New York, between 1817 and 1836. Samuel S. Wood & Co. was located at 212 Market St., Baltimore, between 1814 and at least 1824; a Baltimore directory for 1825 has not been located. Samuel S. Wood had relocated to New York by 1826.
